12 books in a year challenge /A follow-up to my previous post/
The first book- On the brink inside the race to stop the collapse of the global financial system
In this book, Hank Paulson /Treasury Secretary of US 06–09/ tells a compelling story on what was happening behind the closed doors during the financial crisis. It seems that the book is written in a form of a chronologically ordered diary and I felt that I am seeing the situation from a first-person point of view. / Like playing a shooting game with a first-person perspective😆.
1. Mhm. He mentioned he came to Washington as an advocate of free markets. Yet he was forced to do things he didn’t believe in (government intervention) to save something he did believe in: Probably the biggest government bailout 🧐
2. Really. The environment was so fast-paced and every decision suppose to be made quickly. It can be clearly shown from the sarcastic quote: “If you wait any longer, there won’t be a market left to be regulated.”
3. Ooh. A small problem I had was trying to keep track of all the characters. A lot of names were mentioned in the book. There were plenty of times where I ended up Wikipedia-ing someone to find out who they were.
